Terms and lesson policy

These terms apply to lessons, small groups and workshops booked with Jane's Mandarin Tutor Studio, run by Jane. By booking, you agree to them. Enquiries and bookings are for parents and adult learners only; students under 18 must get in touch through a parent or guardian. For learners under 18, the parent or guardian who books agrees on the learner's behalf.

Booking and payment

• Lessons are paid in advance when you book, by card through Stripe.
• Prices are per student and shown on the main page. Prices can change, but never for lessons you have already paid for.
• The free 20-minute trial is available once per learner.

Lesson packs

• A 5-lesson pack (10% off) is valid for 8 weeks from the first lesson. A 10-lesson pack (20% off) is valid for 16 weeks.
• Pack discounts apply to 1-to-1 lessons only.
• If you need to stop part way through a pack, I refund the unused lessons after recalculating the lessons already taken at the single-lesson price.

Cancelling and rescheduling

• You can move or cancel a lesson free of charge up to 24 hours before it starts.
• Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed, are charged in full.
• If I need to cancel, you can choose another time or a full refund for that lesson.
• If a learner is late, the lesson still ends at the booked time. I wait 15 minutes before treating a lesson as missed.

Small groups (KS3 Mandarin only)

Small-group lessons are offered for KS3 Mandarin (Years 7–9) only. All other courses are taught 1-to-1.

• One family can pay for the whole group, or each family can pay for its own place.
• A group is confirmed once every place is paid. If places are still unpaid 48 hours before the first lesson, families who have paid can switch to 1-to-1 lessons at the normal price or receive a full refund.
• If a student leaves a running group, the remaining students' price is updated from the next block of lessons, not for lessons already paid.

Your right to cancel

For bookings made online, you have 14 days to cancel and receive a refund. If you ask for lessons to start within those 14 days, you pay only for lessons already taken.

Online lessons and safeguarding

• Online lessons need a quiet space, a laptop or tablet, a microphone and a stable connection. Time lost to problems on the learner's side cannot be added on.
• For learners under 18, a parent or guardian should be at home during online lessons. Messages about lessons go to the parent or guardian.
• Lessons are not recorded without written consent from the parent or guardian.
• I am Enhanced DBS checked and safeguarding trained, and I will act on any safeguarding concern in line with UK guidance.

In-person lessons

In-person lessons are available in Sittingbourne, Kent, at a mutually agreed location, which may be the tutor’s or the learner’s location. The location and any travel arrangements are agreed before booking. For learners under 18, a parent or another adult must be present.

Schools and workshops

After-school clubs, enrichment days and culture workshops are agreed in writing with each school or organiser, including dates, numbers, materials and price. Those written agreements take priority over these terms.

Results

I will always teach to help each learner make the best progress they can, but I cannot guarantee a particular exam grade.
