Your teacher · Jane
I am a native Chinese speaker. I taught in a secondary school in China for seven years, then spent seven years teaching in the UK, from nursery and primary to secondary and adults. I trained at UCL and currently teach Mandarin in a UK school. I am familiar with exam board marking criteria and speaking exam requirements, so I know what is expected.
Students practise with exam-style question types, timings and mark criteria.
Trained at UCL and experienced in UK classrooms, I know the curriculum and exam requirements inside out and have taught with a wide range of textbooks, including Jinbu, the main exam-board course books, Easy Steps to Chinese and the HSK Standard Course. Lessons use proven teaching methods, with clear goals, plenty of practice and useful feedback, so every learner knows how to improve.
Each lesson is adapted to the learner's level, interests and goals, with games, real-life tasks and plenty of speaking, so students stay motivated and make steady progress.
Parents can book with confidence. Lessons with under-18s follow school safeguarding practice.
Seven years teaching secondary students in China, and seven years in the UK with early years, primary, secondary and adult learners, including GCSE, IGCSE, A Level and IB exams.
